  2. Puerta de Alcalá: this gate gave access to the city in ancient times. Nowadays, it is one of the most famous monuments in Madrid and it even has its own song.

Monuments of Barcelona

Barcelona is the second most important city in Spain after the capital. Its architecture is mainly modernist, so its most important monuments are of modernist style. Some of them are:

  1. Sagrada Familia: it is the most famous monument of the whole city. It was designed by Gaudí, who died before finishing the project. This is why it is still under construction today. However, despite the works, you can still visit it.
  2. Casa Batlló: another monument designed by Gaudí. It is located in the heart of the city centre and was the residence of the Batlló family. Although you can see its incredible façade from the street, we recommend that you also visit its interior.
