You know that there are several options to make your journey, but you don’t know which one is better. What do you value more, your economy or your comfort? Do you prefer to get there faster, even if you have to walk, or do you don’t mind taking longer if the transport drops you off at the door? How to get from Madrid Airport to the city centre?

There are different options for getting from Madrid-Barajas Airport to the city centre. Depending on where you are going in Madrid, one or the other will be more convenient.

Metro

The airport’s metro station is located in Terminal 1 and has a single line, line 8. This metro line will take you to Nuevos Ministerios, a central area from where you can travel to many other destinations. You can check all the prices and timetables on the Metro Madrid website.

Bus

There is a bus line that runs only between the city centre and the airport. This is the “Airport Express Bus” line, which will take you to Plaza de Cibeles or Atocha station. It costs approximately 5 euros each way and runs 24 hours a day. You can find more information on the EMT website.

Suburban train

The Madrid – Barajas Airport train station is located in Terminal 4. From this station you can take the C1 suburban line, which will take you to Príncipe Pío station. Taxi

Taxis are the fastest way to get to your destination. It has a fixed cost of 30 euros per journey from the airport to any place within the M-30.

Private transport

How to get from Barcelona Airport to the city centre?

Barcelona-El Prat Airport has two terminals, T1 and T2. They are served by free 24-hour shuttle buses, and it takes about 15 minutes to get from one terminal to the other. It is important to know which terminal is your terminal because this will determine how you can get to the city centre.

Metro

Line 9 L9 Sud connects the airport with the city centre, specifically with the university area. The journey takes about half an hour and costs around 5 euros. You can find more information on the AENA website.

Bus

As in Madrid, there is a bus line that only runs between the airport and the city centre, the “Aerobus“. This bus takes approximately 25 minutes and costs 5 euros.

Local trains

Taxi

The taxi service from the airport to the centre of Barcelona will cost you between 35 and 39 euros. Above all, remember that there are no VTCs operating in the city of Barcelona, so you will not be able to use Uber or Cabify.
