trabajos temporales

Summer is approaching and it is becoming more and more common for young people to travel to other countries during these holiday months to learn another language, gain experience in the working world and try to scrape together some savings. If you have come to Spain to spend some time here, learn Spanish and get to know the amazing Spanish culture, you might be looking for a temporary job to earn some money during your time here.  Don’t go away and read on… Here at People Global Relocation we tell you all the facts about temporary jobs and volunteering in Spain!

The most common short-term jobs

The most common temporary jobs in summer in Spain are those related to the world of tourism and hostelry. Spain is known for its tourist activity and, during the summer months, there is always an increase in employability. This is why you will probably find the most job offers for positions such as waiter or hotel receptionist.

However, you should know that there are other alternatives, less demanding and probably much more suited to your expectations.

Short-term job alternatives

One of the most enriching alternatives that we recommend at People Global Relocation are summer camps for children.

It is very common for children to spend a holiday season in camps, doing leisure and adventure activities. This is a perfect opportunity to work weekly or fortnightly, practising the language and enjoying the experience. In addition, these camps are usually run by young students who are likely to value your status as a foreigner to teach children new languages and cultures. It is important to note that, in some cases, it will be a prerequisite to have a degree in leisure activities.

In this type of work placement, you will be provided with accommodation and will earn approximately 200 euros per week.

Volunteering in agricultural areas

Spain is also a country with a large agricultural production. There are initiatives, such as WWOOF, that allow you to work on farms and, although there is no financial compensation, in exchange they provide accommodation and food. This type of programme allows you to meet people from all over the world, learn a new trade and practise the language.

Where to find these job offers

To find job offers in the tourism and hostelry sector, we recommend that you use portals such as InfoJobs, Jobatus or Indeed.

In the case of summer camps, there are portals specialised in this type of jobs. We recommend Trabajar por el mundo and Todomonitores.

For agricultural volunteering, you can find information on the WWOOF website.

Remember that, in order to work in Spain, it is essential to obtain your work visa. At People Global Relocation we are at your disposal to answer all your questions.
