Christmas is very close and it is common to organize trips in and out of Spain to celebrate these dates. But, can I travel  during Covid-19 pandemic?

In accordance with the national authorities, it will be possible to travel to spend Christmas with family and friends. The limitations in that regard will not exist, but this does not imply total freedom to the meetings and celebrations of Christmas and New Eve.

What can’t I do?

According to what has been indicated by the authorities, no more than 6 people not living together will be able to meet on December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1, 2021. This number of people includes the smallest of the house.

The curfew will be at 1:30 am for those dates. However, each Autonomous Community can advance that schedule in accordance with what they consider in health matters.

And the parade and other events?

All public events are suspended unless the minimum security measures can be ensured. So, probably these typical celebrations will not take place.

Traveling outside of Spain and to Spain, is it an option?

Traveling outside of Spain is possible as long as the entry requirements of the receiving country are met. Regardless of whether it is inside or outside the European Union, non-compliance with the requirements may suppose fines and denial of entry to the country.

How I go inside Spain?

Entry to Spain will only be possible if you are a Community citizen, have a residence permit or come from a country allowed by the European Union. Non-essential trips to the Schengen area by third-country citizens will not be able.

Will there be more restrictions?

The restrictions will depend on the autonomous communities. However, those already known, as capacity limitations and the curfew, are maintained.

The general recommendation is to not travel during Christmas and enjoy this time with the family. Avoid the crowds, since defeating the virus is everyone’s job.
