For now, today we are going to talk to you about another type of visa, the Golden Visa. What is it? How do you get it? Who can apply for it? Read on and find out all about it!

What is the Golden Visa?

The Golden Visa is a visa for investors in Spain. That is, for foreigners interested in making a significant investment in the country. These people can apply for a residence visa or a visa for investors, i.e. the Golden Visa.

By applying for this type of visa, foreign investors will be able to obtain a residence permit in Spain for themselves and their immediate family members. To renew this permit, it is not necessary to stay for any minimum period of time in the country. However, the only requirement will be to maintain the investment of money.

How can it be obtained?

There are different ways to obtain your Golden Visa:

  • Acquire 2 million euros of public debt.
  • Buying a property with a value equal to or greater than €500,000 and free of encumbrances.
  • Undertake a new business project in the country.
  • Acquire €1 million in shares or equity.

After fulfilling any of these requirements, if you obtain your Golden Visa you will be authorised to reside in Spain for 2 years. After these 2 years, you will be able to renew your permit if you maintain the investment.

Who can apply for the Golden Visa?

Spain is the European country that has granted the most Golden Visas in recent years, approximately 25,000 Golden Visas. Of these, less than 1500 have been for purchases of real estate worth more than €500,000.

Those who apply for this type of permit are citizens of countries outside the European Union. The countries that predominate in Golden Visa applications in Spain are China, Russia, North America, India and Venezuela.

In addition to belonging to a country outside the European Union, applicants must not have a criminal record and must prove that they have the necessary financial resources to stay in Spain.
